Halloween Activities in Cornwall

With the autumn half term falling close to Halloween this year, many of the attractions in Cornwall are hosting some spooky activities for families to get involved in. We have taken a look at some of the exciting activities that will be going on near to us here at The Valley!

 

Spooky Castle and Creepy Critters at Pendennis Castle

Sat 26th October – Sunday 3rd November 2019

A spooky day out awaits those visiting Pendennis Castle this Halloween, with a number of frighteningly fun activities to try. Follow the Halloween quest around the castle before making some creepy crafts. Your little monsters will love getting up close with the creepy critters, including snakes and spiders, and learning more about these fascinating ‘beasts’.

 

Ghost Tours at Pendennis Castle

Friday 25th – Saturday 26th October 2019

Explore Pendennis Castle after dark with a ghost hunter guide on this Halloween Ghost Tour. Hear tales of ghosts, spooky sightings and historical horrors as you are guided through the shadowy castle. Family-friendly tours are available at 6pm and 7pm, while an adult tour leaves at 8pm for a spookier experience. Do you dare take the ghost tour?

 

Spooky Stories in the Undercroft at Godolphin

Monday 21st, Wednesday 23rd, Friday 25th and Sunday 27th October 2019

Hear spine-tingling tales of spooky happenings at Godolphin from professional storyteller Mark Harandon. A National Trust property, Godolphin has an interesting history, with plenty of intriguing stories. Learn about the ghostly lady who haunts the estate at night, the fearsome Witch of Fraddam, and the mysterious black dogs that appear in the mines! Stories will begin at 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, meeting in the Undercroft.

 

Halloweden at the Eden Project

Saturday 19th October – Sunday 3rd November 2019

Things are getting spooky over at the Eden Project for Halloweden! Head to the Cryptid Petting Zoo to meet some mythical monsters. Spot the rare Mongolian Death Worm and Giant Beast and learn about the care these fantastical beasts need! If you like to get crafty, then join in on the pumpkin carving master class, or make a magical potion using secret ingredients. The Screech Owl Sanctuary will also be paying a visit to the Eden Project, with owl encounters allowing you to learn a little more about these magnificent birds.

On Saturday 26th October, head to the Mediterranean Biome for the Little Monsters’ Ball. Wear your spookiest fancy dress and enjoy an evening shaking your bones at the deadly disco. Visit the Doom Tent for some beastly encounters or enter the Rainforest Biome and check out the firefly stilt walkers.

 

Pumpkin Carving at Trelissick

Monday 21st – Sunday 27th October 2019

If you’re visiting Trelissick this October, be sure to head to the stables for some pumpkin carving fun! Select your pumpkin, get scooping and then carve on a design of your choosing. You can use a stencil or create your own spooky design. Carving will be available from 11.30am until 3pm and will cost £3.

 

The Good, the Bad and the Bugly at The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Saturday 19th – Sunday 27th October 2019

Heligan has a whole host of Halloween activities on the cards this year, so you’re sure to be in for some spooky fun! With the theme ‘The Good, the Bad and the Bugly’, you can expect to experience plenty of creepy critters. Follow the Creepy Creatures Trail through the garden to discover more about the fascinating wildlife that live on the Heligan estate. Pop into the Halloween Yurt to meet owls, insects and a variety of creepy crawlies, as well as learning all about nocturnal animals.

 

Halloween Horrors at Newquay Zoo

Saturday 19th – Sunday 27th October 2019

Take your little monsters to see an assortment of beasts at Newquay Zoo’s Halloween Horrors this year! There’s plenty of spooktacular fun to be had at the zoo this year, from brilliant bat hunt trails to creepy crawly talks. The animals may even have some special spooky treats of their own! Wear your most frightful fancy dress to win a spooky surprise.
