St Michael’s Mount is a famous small rocky island with a medieval church, castle and small village. Home to the St Aubyn family, the island is located a walkable distance offshore from Marazion in Mount’s Bay.
St Michael’s Mount is also a famous film location for popular films and television. The island was recently used in the famous HBO TV show ‘House of The Dragon’ as the home of House Velaryon.
The island can be reached at low tide by a cobbled causeway or boat at high tide. If you are travelling by car, there is a car park called St Michael’s Mount and Long Stay Marazion car park where you can leave your vehicle to visit the island.
The postcode for the car park is TR17 OEG.
St Michael’s Mount offers one of the best boat trips near Falmouth and Truro. A boat to the island takes about 10 minutes one way. The boats will depart and return to one of three landing points depending on high tide: Chapel Rock, Gwelva and Top Tieb.
You can buy return boat tickets on the island or at Marizon beach. On the day of your boat trip, you will be directed by St Michael’s excellent guides throughout your time on the sea and the island.
Depending on the tide, there is a fantastic opportunity to walk along the cobbled causeway from Marizon to the mount. The walk takes around 15 minutes from the start of the causeway to the base of the island.
