Our 3 Favourite Walks Close to The Valley

September 15th, 2015

Here at The Valley we like to explore Cornwall too and often find ourselves wondering through the scenic countryside and taking in the picturesque views along the coast. Whatever the time of year, Cornwall is perfect for a cottage holiday, pack your wellies, flip flops, suncream, hat and waterproofs and you’ll be ready for one of our recommended walks in the great Cornish outdoors.

Not far from The Valley cottages you will find three great walks.

1. Trelissick Gardens.

A super walk at the nearby National Trust Garden. Only 10 minutes from your luxury Cornwall cottage you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the banks of the River Fal. Follow the signs for the woodland walk and don’t forget to veer of the path slightly and visit the Iron Age roundwood Settlement. After your long walk, Trelissick have a lovely tea room so you can treat yourself to a delicious piece of homemade cake or Cornish cream tea.

2. Boscawen Park – Malpas – Tresillian.

Every Sunday at 10am The Valley guide a walk from Truro’s Boscawen Park, beside the river, to Malpas, a village just outside Truro. Plenty of opportunities for photos and of course food to be eaten at the ‘Cafe on the Park’. This walk can be done by yourself too as The Valley have all the instructions of where to go! Along the banks of the Tresillian River you can carry on to St.Clements and even on to Tresillian.

3. Devoran Circular Walk.

The beauty of this walk includes the fact it can be started from your cottage! You head towards peace and quiet along a track which was once used to link the copper and tin mines in the Centre and the North of Cornwall. Following the trail you can enjoy stunning views at Restronguet Creek and the River Fal as well as learning about the history of the port found on the interpretation boards. Our favourite part after the walk is sitting down to a well-earned drink and bite to eat at the Old Quay Inn.
