Star & Garter, Falmouth

An award-winning foodie pub found on Falmouth’s High Street, Star & Garter has become famous for its roasts, as well as the impressive selection of drinks they serve. Beef, slow roasted lamb shoulder or pork loin are on the menu, accompanied by an assortment of delicious sides, including roast potatoes crisped up in duck fat, giant Yorkshire puddings, creamy cauliflower cheese and plenty of veg. The food is as local as it gets, with fish served straight off the boats and local meats, supplied by Cornish butcher Phillip Warren, cured and smoked on site. Even if you’re not hungry, the harbour views make this pub well worth a visit for a nice drink.

The Waymarker, Falmouth

Opened in 2009, The Waymarker has become infamous for its Sunday roast and brasserie-style dinners. With a background in farming, the owners use homebred beef and lamb from the neighbouring farmland to create their Sunday lunch menu. Seasonal vegetables are served up with the meat, as well as the traditional roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings! The Waymarker adds their own personal flair to each dinner with the addition of a ‘Faddle’, their own scrumptious version of pigs-in-blankets, which sees a little herb stuffing mixed into the sausage meat before it is wrapped in bacon!

The bistro on Lemon Street makes the most of the delicious Cornish produce available, with their menu inspired by the fresh local ingredients on offer. The main menu changes week to week, depending on which produce is in season; however, one thing that does remain the same is the delicious Sunday lunch served each weekend. Each week there will be something from the butchers, the sea, and the allotment, so every guest is catered to. The kids will love a roast here, and there is no doubt everyone will be boasting an empty plate!
