The Valley wins first ‘Dog Friendly’ award

November 07th, 2014

The Valley’s commitment to offering first class self-catering accommodation to dogs (and their owners) has been recognised at the 2014/15 Cornwall Tourism Awards by winning bronze in the Dog Friendly Accommodation of The Year category. The Valley was also ‘highly commended’ in the Holiday Resort of The Year category. The announcement was made at the glittering Grand Awards Dinner held at The Headland Hotel last night on Thursday 7th October and the award was presented by Cornwall & England Rugby legend, Phil Vickery.

The prestigious Cornwall Tourism awards recognise businesses that demonstrate excellence across every aspect of their operations, with a prime focus on delivering a great customer experience whilst promoting Cornwall as a year round holiday destination.  “To reach the finals in the Cornwall Tourism Awards is a worthy achievement and signifies success in a rigorous judging process which saw the businesses scored, mystery shopped and debated by a panel of industry professionals.” commented Malcolm Bell, Head of Visit Cornwall. “This year was stronger than ever with a record number of entries, up 10% up on last year. It’s great to see many new entrants in the list of finalists as well as former winners who have continued to invest in their staff, services and marketing.”

The Valley’s General Manager David Reynolds was clearly delighted with the news, “This is a fantastic honour for the whole team; we work hard to provide our guests with a holiday experience that they can truly relax and enjoy in the company of their four-legged family members. Not only do we ensure that the accommodation we offer is of exactly the same high standard as we offer to those without dogs, we also like to treat dogs as VIP guests in their own right with their own welcome pack full of dog-friendly information and treats”.
