A Cornish restaurant has been named as second best in the country in the Good Food Guide 2017, and another restaurant made the top 50. There are loads of great places to eat out across Cornwall when enjoying your luxury cottage holidays.
Two Michelin star seafood restaurant in Port Isaac, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, received a score of 10, which means “just perfect dishes, showing faultless technique at every service; extremely rare, and the highest accolade the Guide can give.”
Editor of the Good Food Guide Elizabeth Carter said of the restaurant: “A role model of its kind – no pretensions or gimmicks, just first-class food and knowledgeable, welcoming service – and there is no doubt in my mind that Restaurant Nathan Outlaw deserves its place as one of the best restaurants in the country.”
Chef Nathan has worked with the likes of Gary Rhodes and Rick Stein and received his first Michelin star aged 25. He was awarded his second star from the 2011 Michelin Guide. His restaurant is the only specialist fish restaurant in the UK to hold any Michelin stars.
Responding to the news, Nathan said: “I honestly thought I was dreaming when I found out. Over those years of continuously cooking and serving our customers we have always tried our hardest to do our best and when you get recognised like this it means the world to us all.”
Paul Ainsworth at No 6 made the Good Food Guide’s Top 50 restaurants at number 28 with a score of 7. The restaurant has been a constant in the guide since 2012 and received its first Michelin star in 2013. The restaurant is a highlight for anyone with a love for fantastic desserts, with honeycomb and popping candy lollipops, cinnamon-sugar-dusted doughnuts with raspberry curd for dipping and much more, making this restaurant one of the best in Cornwall.
The top 50 recognises the best in the country and earning a place shows a huge achievement. As well as the two in the top 50, Cornwall has loads of great restaurants and cafes to try when staying at our luxury cottages, where you can sample the best produce from around Cornwall.
