UK is seeing a rise in staycations for 2016
July 20th, 2016
The UK is seeing a rise in British holidaymakers staying within the UK for their holidays this summer, with Cornwall being the most popular destination. Book up for our cottages, Cornwall is going to be the place to go this summer!
The rise in staycations is due to the pound dropping in value, and a rise in the price of holidays abroad. This has also meant, as well as British staying within its borders, that more people are coming from overseas to holiday in Britain.
Due to the cost of holidaying abroad, it looks like as many as 2.5 million people will be opting for staying at home this year, with Cornwall leading in the popular destinations to visit, followed by London and the Lake District.
And Cornwall is definitely the place to go if you are still looking to soak up the sun. With hundreds of miles of white sandy beaches along our coastline, you are sure to find a spot to lie out and sunbathe. For any adventurers, there are tonnes of fantastic surfing spots, coasteering locations and more that will be sure to get the adrenaline pumping!
With the kids coming too, to your staycation, there is a lot for them to enjoy as well, with rock pooling, wildlife centres and boat trips out to sea where they can spot dolphins, porpoise, seals and maybe some whales!
