In addition to this, skating and BMX enthusiasts from all ends of the country gather at Boardmasters to showcase their skills on the CANNA Ramp. Open Air Cinema at Porthminster Beach

1st – 31st August 2019

Cornwall is home to some truly breathtaking beaches and what better way to spend a lovely summers evening than enjoying a film on the sand with family and friends! Throughout August, Porthminster Beach will be hosting screenings of a variety of films. Two films that will undoubtedly be a hit with the kids are Finding Nemo on the 18th and Moana on the 25th. Tickets are £5.00 each and can be purchased on the Cornish cinema club Facebook or website page.

There is a takeaway where you can buy some tasty snacks and refreshments, or you may pack your own nibbles and bring them along with you. There are only a few deck chairs on the beach, and these come on a first come, first serve basis, so we recommend you pack a picnic mat or some chairs just in case. Although it will be warm throughout the day, it can get chilly in the evenings, so bring a few cosy blankets. Enjoy some quality family time while watching the best films in the most beautiful setting!

Earth Story at The Eden Project

1st – 31st August 2019

The Eden Project is in Bodelva, Cornwall and is a well-loved educational attraction. You can learn all about the living world and unearth how we can better our future. The main feature is the massive biomes that are home to rainforest like climates. Within these biomes are plants and exhibitions where you can learn more about the environments within tropical locations such as Southeast Asia and West Africa.

Throughout August, the Eden Project is hosting an event called “Earth Story”; this is an opportunity to discover evolution! There will be a mixture of activities, such as virtual reality safari where you can come face-to-face with a giant armadillo! There will also be a new addition to the outdoor gardens called Minibeast Mansion. A perfect place for the kids to run around and burn off some energy as they crawl through tunnels and climb up some nets. There is also an incredible exhibition where you can discover some of the Earths most weird and wonderful creatures. Something that we think the kids will love is finding the ice-age mammoth skeleton, just like the one from Ice Age! You can grasp the sheer size of the magnificent mammals. In addition to these brilliant activities, there are also numerous science workshops and storytelling in the biomes. With so much to see and do, this is an event you don’t want to miss this summer!
