Now that signs of spring are appearing all around us, with beautiful blooms starting to emerge, we can start to look forward to the upcoming Easter holidays! We take a look at some of the exciting activities that will be taking place near our child-friendly cottages in Cornwall this Easter for the whole family to enjoy!
Saturday 6th – Thursday 25th April 2019
A fun family day out in itself, the Eden Project will be offering some extra special Easter activities for those visiting during the holiday. Gather eggs from the coop in the Golden Egg hunt and keep an eye out for special Easter prizes. Kids and adults alike will love taking part in the giant scramble course, where you will be challenged to bring some farmyard friends back to their pens safely! You’ll also be able to help out some of the Eden farmers, and discover how they grow their crops.
Monday 8th to Monday 22nd April 2019
In celebration of their 50th anniversary, Newquay Zoo will be opening their nostalgic ‘Then and Now’ trail just in time for the Easter holidays. Follow the Then and Now trail booklet and see if you can spot the differences in the zoo from over the past fifty years! For more Easter fun, you can watch as the animals get fed some tasty Easter treats and learn all about them from the keepers. More fun can be had from the face painting sessions in the barn, where little ones can be transformed into their favourite animals!

Discover some of the weird and wonderful creatures that call the Cornish coastline home in this interactive and educational experience. Join in with the Great Scott! Adventures Outdoors activities for free on your chosen day. Become a rockpool explorer and learn all about the sealife living off the causeway leading to St Michael’s Mount. Groups meet at the Great Scott! Flag near the start of the causeway and booking is not required. It is advised that old trainers or rock pooling shoes are worn to embark on this adventure, as the rocks can become quite slippery!

Following the success of the Made in Cornwall Christmas Fairs, the market will be returning to Lemon Quay in Truro for the second year for a special Easter event. Visitors to the market will be able to peruse a wide range of delightful Cornish goods, all of which have been assessed to confirm that they have genuinely been produced in the county!
Monday 8th April – Friday 19th April 2019
You’ll be well-equipped to cope in the event you ever get shipwrecked on a desert island after your trip to the National Maritime Museum this Easter! Extreme survival experts, Footsteps of Discovery, will be in attendance throughout the Easter break to provide plenty of survival tips and techniques through their interesting talks and demonstrations. The Shipwreck Survivors talks are just one thing to enjoy at the Maritime Museum at Easter though, as you will also be able to experience the Titanic Stories exhibit and little ones will love the pirate-themed Treasure Island Play Zone!
Saturday 6th – Monday 22nd April 2019
To celebrate Talis the Golden Eagle joining the Eagles of Paradise display, a gold-themed treat awaits in the shape of a golden egg! Seek out this special egg and you’ll be rewarded with a chocolatey surprise! A full timetable of fun events can also be enjoyed during your day at Paradise Park, with plenty of bird displays and shows that give you the chance to get up close to a range of stunning macaws, cockatoos, owls and other magnificent birds. Head to the JungleBarn for some great indoor play fun, perfect for both kids and adults to play, with giant slides, soft play area and rope bridges!

The Minack Theatre opens for their adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden on April 9th 2019, making for the perfect Spring viewing during the Easter holidays as the Cornish gardens burst to life! Times of performances alternate between 7.30pm and 2pm, so be sure to check with the box office when booking tickets for your chosen date!
Saturday 6th – Sunday 28th April
Embark on a legendary quest this Easter at Pendennis Castle. Hunt for clues and follow the trail around the castle as you try to track down the dragon egg that is hidden in this historic landmark. Successful explorers will receive a certificate and chocolatey treat to celebrate the completion of the quest!
