Wine shop to host Christmas festivities
November 20th, 2015
A wine shop in West Cornwall is hosting a Christmas event to encourage customers to shop locally.
Jon Keast is the owner of West Cornwall-based Scarlet Wines and restaurant The Vineyard Table, and is set to host a shop local event in the lead up to Christmas.
Jon says he is offering “an alternative to the impersonal supermarket spree and trawling through price comparison websites,” as part of an attempt to make Christmas a fun, enjoyable and sociable experience once again. This is because he feels the annual festivities have become a little too commercialised.
“These days it seems like Christmas has become a chore for many people, with an awful lot of work required to have one day off,” he said. “But it’s actually a time when we should be enjoying the whole season.”
His attempt to change that will see Jon offering customers the chance to visit his shop and sample wines – making the simple act of buying a bottle for Christmas dinner a fun part of the season.
He said: “It’s worth investing the time and effort in deciding what to drink and I really enjoy helping with that. I usually opt for classics at Christmas time, but I do love a challenge and would be delighted to suggest some more unusual wines for more adventurous customers.”
Visitors to Jon’s shop on December 12 will be treated to complimentary mulled wine and traditional Italian Panettone while browsing.
So if you’re planning a Christmas time Cornwall self-catering break why not pop along and grab a bottle to enjoy while snuggled up in our cottages?
