8 great reasons why children are in love with Cornwall

August 20th, 2015

Cornwall has such an abundance of reasons to visit; beaches, coastline, local produce, amazing restaurants, beautiful towns and villages, and various other attractions. But what about the children? When you book child-friendly cottage holidays in Cornwall you want to know your children will enjoy their break as much as you, so we’ve taken a look at 8 great reasons why children will love Cornwall!

  1. Beaches

Here in Cornwall we have some unrivalled beaches. Recently voted the most beautiful in Britain, if you take the family to one of our local beaches you’ll soon discover what all the fuss is about! Golden sands, alluring waters and all in your own country, what more could you want?!

  1. Ice cream

Essentially, you need one of these to pair up with number one or you’ve not had a full beach holiday experience! There’s so many flavours from different shops you can choose from, and we’re pretty sure you can’t try them all before the end of your stay! Don’t forget the extra helping of traditional Cornish clotted cream for an authentic experience.

  1. Zoos and animal parks

Cornwall plays host to a wide selection of parks where the whole family can meet all manner of animals, great and small. Pay a visit to Newquay Zoo and you’ll be treated to as many as 130 different species. Amazing!

  1. Watersports

Being in such prime location for it, watersports are understandably a good option when in Cornwall. Kids come here and simply fall in love with the various activities they can indulge in, quite often they are sports they have never had the chance to try before, too. Surfing, bodyboarding, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and coasteering are all common activities children get involved in while they on holiday here, and you can find qualified instructors nearby. Visit Cornwall is an ideal website to help you plan your water-based activities.

  1. The Eden Project

We couldn’t have a list of great things for kids without mentioning The Eden Project! Home to the largest rainforest in captivity, your little ones will be in their element as they explore all that the biomes have to offer, including the chance to be transported into the kind of steaming hot jungle atmosphere that would usually only be experienced in foreign countries.

Here you can also find SkyWire, England’s longest zip wire, which takes you on a fun-filled trip over the biomes at up to 60mph!

  1. Dolphins, porpoises, and seals

These spectacular sea mammals are actually rather common in the waters around the Cornish coastline. For your best chance to spot these amazing sights you should head out on an offshore safari.

  1. The weather

Okay, okay, it’s the UK so this one has shaky foundations, but if the weather’s on your side, which it often is when you’re in Cornwall then you may as well be enjoying the sunning shores of Spain, Portugal, and Greece it’s that divine!

  1. Pasties

This local historic delicacy is a firm favourite with all members of the family, young and old. Just like the ice cream, you simply have to try a traditional Cornish ‘oggy’ to make your Cornish break complete.
