British film star spotted filming in Cornwall
May 04th, 2016
Tom Hardy has been spotted down here in Charlestown Harbour in Cornwall filming scenes for new BBC drama, Taboo, with the new trailer showing why it looks set to be one of the best programmes of the year.
The star, who is best known for his roles in Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Legend and The Revenant among many others was seen climbing aboard a boat as filming was under way for the Georgian period drama that is based on a story that Tom and his father, Edward ‘Chips’ Hardy had written.
He was also spotted in between takes by hawk-eyed locals enjoying his e-cigarette whilst chatting to a redheaded co-star. The period drama, which is a collaboration between BBC One and FX, tells the incredible story of adventurer James Keziah Delaney, who builds his own shipping empire in the early 1800’s. Following 10 years in Africa, James Delaney, played by Tom, arrives back in London to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his dead father. He then goes on a personal battle of vengeance against those who have wronged him and finds himself in conflict with the East India Company, whilst also playing games between Britain and the USA.
Polly Hill, Controller BBC Drama commissioning said: “The talent on-and off-screen is incredible and I am so excited to see Steve’s captivating scripts come to life. Tom Hardy and the rest of the cast are set to bring this original and spectacular story to life in a unique and epic way.”
