British Street Food Festival comes to Falmouth this weekend

August 28th, 2015

This bank holiday weekend, Falmouth’s Events Square is set to come to life with colours, flavours and aromas with the arrival of the south west heat of the Great British Street Food Festival.

The stalls are set to be just as much a piece of the art as the food, as visitors can expect Italian food served from a London double decker and waffles served from a vintage French fire engine.

Entry is absolutely free, and the first 100 arrivals every day will even receive a free half-pint from Sharps brewery.

Across the weekend, street food vendors from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset will compete to take the top prize and go through to the finals. Among those taking part are Lola’s Wings, from Croyde, Devon, as well as Truly Scrumptious, a homemade crumpets company, Inkie’s Smokehouse, and Shellfish Pig, all representing Cornwall.

Falmouth is a foodie capital of the south west, with an abundance of eateries of different kinds, from fine dining to casual cafes. Visitors will also be able to enjoy live music, a street food and beer matching experience and a special take on the popular TV quiz, Have I Got Foods For You while sampling the best of what the South West has to offer.

The winners of the regional heats will be decided by public vote, announced on the final afternoon to an enthusiastic crowd.

If you’d like to sample the culinary delights of Cornwall as well as everything else the region has to offer, The Valley has some truly wonderful places to stay in Cornwall.
