Christmas at the Eden project

Your Christmas break in Cornwall this year will not be the same without a trip to the Eden project. From the moment the sun sets the site is beautifully lit, the magical ice rink is open to the public and a variety of winter-themed activities are available for visitors. The Festival of Light and Sound is guaranteed to create memories for all the family and be sure to check out the cafes for some seasonal drinks and snacks. Hit the souvenir shop for any last-minute Christmas shopping, as there’s something for everyone!
The Eden Project is open every day of the holidays except Christmas day itself, and will be open later than usual on selected evenings.
Festival of Light and Sound
Nobody does a festival quite like Cornwall, and the Eden Project’s Festival of Light and Sound is no different. As darkness falls the site will transform the winter setting and inside the Mediterranean biomes with light projections, music and colour from internationally renowned artist Chris Levine. A sight to behold, the show features the Iy project and should not be missed off your festive Cornish calendar this year.
In addition to this, the rainforest will come to life as night falls. Visitors are invited to explore the paths encountering wonderful light displays, accompanied by the captivating sound of stories and tales.
The festival takes place between 5pm and 8pm every weekend in December, as well as each day from the 19th December until the 23rd. From the 27th December until the 30th the site can be enjoyed between 5pm and 7pm.

Ice skating
Ice skating at the Eden Project is a fantastic way to get in the Christmas spirit. Soak up the festive atmosphere as you spin, leap and twirl your way round the rink with family and friends, whilst singing along to a couple of Christmas tunes. Suitable for all ages, penguin aids are available to rent for first-time skaters or younger children who aren’t as confident on the ice.
Open every day except Christmas day, but remember to book your tickets as an extra charge along with your general admission ticket is required.
Storytelling
An array of wonderful winter tales will be told by professional storytellers against the surreal backdrop of the Mediterranean Biome this winter. Between 12pm and 2pm every day in the run up to Christmas, let your kids get lost in the world of fiction for an inspired pre-Christmas treat.
Crafts
Head to the yurt in the orchard between 12pm and 7.30pm in the run up to Christmas, to try your hand at some festive craft activities. Get creative with all the family and take home some souvenirs to remind you of your fantastic Christmas break in Cornwall – a much more authentic and organic way to decorate your home or holiday home this season.
Choirs
Aim to get to the Mediterranean Biome from 1pm to enjoy the beautiful sound of choirs from across the region and beyond. The Intune choir will feature on the 17th December, whilst Wadebridge choir will sing their hearts out on the 18th. A fantastic way to engage with some of the local culture whilst enjoying the enchanting voices.
