Cornish museum shortlisted for prestigious award

August 06th, 2015

An award-winning museum in Cornwall was been shortlisted as a contender for the prestigious UK Heritage Attraction of the Year award.

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is located in Falmouth, and only a short distance from our luxury cottages in Cornwall. The Museum was named as a contender for the award at the British Travel Awards (BTAs), and will face some stiff competition from other attractions across Britain, including Edinburgh Castle and Giants Causeway, amongst others.

The British Travel Awards are the largest user voted programme in the UK, with last year’s awards receiving more than 1.25 million votes in order to determine the winners.

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall has finished with a silver medal at the BTAs for the past two years, so are hoping to strike gold at their third attempt.

The good news for the museum doesn’t end there, as it has been reported that visitor numbers are up on 2014. A recent Viking invasion exhibition has seen loans from the National Museums of Ireland and Denmark, as well as from the British Museum bring the history to life, offering a fantastic day for the whole family.

The winners will be determined by the consumers, who have until the 30th September to vote, before the winners are announced on the 25th November.
