Cornish pubs among UK’s best places to eat
February 04th, 2015
Two Cornish pubs have been featured on a prestigious list named the best places to eat in Great Britain, continuing to reinforce the high quality of the South West’s local food scene.
The two pubs were announced as featuring on the Budweiser Budwar Top 50 Gastropub List for 2015, with a feature on the list being a highly regarded accolade. Gurnards Head at Zennor near Penzance is the first pub to feature on the list in 9th place, with the Old School Bar and Kitchen at Mount Hawke near Truro making the list at number 48. Nathan Outlaw’s Mariners pub near Rock also received some recognition and was listed as ‘One to Watch’, meaning that it is highly likely to feature on the list in future years.
The list was announced with awards presented at an extravagant awards ceremony in Hertfordshire, presented by top celebrity chef Tom Kerridge. Each pub was chosen based on decisions made by a panel of industry experts, including food writers, top chefs and hospitality experts, pub guide editors and industry chiefs.
