Filming of Poldark series two to start in September

May 08th, 2015

After news of the increasingly popular BBC series Poldark returning for a second series, it has now been announced that filming will start in Cornwall this coming September, not far from our 5 star Cornwall cottages.

Poldark is based on a series of novels written by Winston Graham, and was originally turned into a television series during the 1970’s, where it attracted an audience of 15 million viewers.

The remake has recently helped the BBC to achieve their highest share of a viewing audience in over a decade.

Aidan Turner plays Captain Ross Poldark in the title role, and has been greatly praised for his portrayal of the character. Debbie Horsfield wrote the adaptation for television, and stated that she wrote the series with Turner in mind as the lead character, something she does not normally do.

Turner has enjoyed success in both television and the big screen, most notably in the BBC 3 series Being Human, as well as his role in the recent Hobbit trilogy, where he played Kili the dwarf.

Poldark has proven to be a massive hit across the country, and has drawn a lot of attention to Cornwall specifically. It has been reported that enquires into houses in the county have doubled since the series has been playing, and has even resulted in a Newquay man replicating parts of the series entirely from Playmobil!

Poldark fever has most certainly taken the nation by storm, and fans will be pleased to hear that filming is returning so soon.
