HRH Princess Alexandra to attend her 6th Royal Cornwall Show
May 25th, 2015
Princess Alexandra will again be attending the forthcoming Royal Cornwall Show in June, organisers have confirmed.
The popular royal is well known for her patronage of a number of medical associations as well as the English National Opera, and often represents the Queen, her cousin, at official engagements both in the UK and abroad.
Her Royal Highness will be present on June 5th, the second day of the show, an event she has attended five times previously. Her first was in 1960 which was also the first year the show was held at the permanent showground at Wadebridge after being held at various locations in the county since 1793.
As usual, the princess will enjoy an informal and friendly tour of the show. Her interests include animals and horticulture. With another exceptional entry across the competitive livestock and equine classes, and an increased entry in the flower show, there will be plenty for her to see.
Show secretary, Chris Riddle, said: “Her Royal Highness has long been a great supporter of the show and we look forward to offering her a very warm Cornish welcome, yet again, in 2015.”
This year’s show, which runs from the 4th to the 6th June, promises to be another feast of farming, entertainment and the finest Cornish food and drink. Well over 100,000 people are expected to attend during the three day event, many of those will be staying at luxury holiday parks in Cornwall.
The main ring acts will include stunts from ex-world motocross series racer Jason Smyth with his Adrenaline Tour, eagles and vultures will feature in a special flying show and a display starring Devon and Cornwall Police dogs is also scheduled.
