National Maritime Museum wins Family Friendly Award

October 01st, 2014

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth has beaten off stiff competition from 5 other short-listed museums to win the 2014 Telegraph Award for The Most Family Friendly Museum in Britain. Only a few miles and a short train ride from The Valley’s luxurious cottages in Cornwall, the National Maritime Museum is hugely popular with both local families and visitors to the County. Often featuring in The Valley’s ‘Day Out Suggestion’ notes to guests, the museum has plenty of hands-on activities for kids of all ages to get stuck into whilst learning about our country’s historical relationship with the sea. Open all year round the Maritime Museum always has a jam-packed schedule of displays & exhibitions, events, activities and workshops, many of which are specially geared for younger visitors, making it a top choice for families, particularly when the Cornish Sun chooses not to shine! Museum Director Jonathan Griffin who will be handing over the helm after 11 years in the role said his team were ‘absolutely ecstatic’ at the news of winning this award.
