Nearly 4 million visitors set to grace Cornwall this summer

July 28th, 2015

We’ve officially seen the first weekend of the Great British summer occur, and following its annual passing, it has been revealed that Cornwall is set to greet a staggering 3.8 million visitors to the region throughout the rest of the summer.

The figures have been announced by the South West Research Company, who have estimated that 1.2 million UK visitors will make a trip to the South West region as a whole, and over 79,000 will pay a visit from overseas. Furthermore, an additional 2.5 million people are expected to visit for day trips alone.

The news of this influx of visitors is exciting for businesses in the region as it is expected to bring a massive £528 million to the region, which will further cement the already exceptional profile of Cornwall as a popular tourist destination.

It’s also worth mentioning that Cornwall has recently begun to change into a year round holiday destination, with attractions and wonderful local produce to keep visitors entertained and well-fed regardless of the season. It is certainly, at the moment, still the summer months which are seen as the most important as they account for nearly a third of the industry’s income.
