Independent Falmouth coffee shop and café Picnic Cornwall has managed to scoop one of the most prestigious awards in the business – a Gold Award at the Independent Sandwich Retailer of the Year Awards, also known as the Sammies.
Organised by the British Sandwich Association, the awards were held in London and recognise and celebrate the importance of sandwiches in coffee shops and cafes across the UK. The Association looked at several different factors when it came to picking the best independent and chain cafes, including quality, sales success, range and presentation.
Picnic Cornwall credit the success of their popular sandwiches to the fact that they source and serve food made from local produce from the area. As one of 5 winners to be crowned with the Gold Award, and the only one in the South West to win the award, it will go forward to be crowned as the possible ultimate winner with the Platinum Award in May.
