‘Poldark effect’ sees couples head to Cornwall
April 25th, 2016
It seems Cornwall is proving to be the place to go for couples looking for a romantic escape, with couples flocking to the county to recreate love scenes from BBC drama Poldark.
Cornwall, along with neighbouring county Devon have seen a huge surge in couples visiting the area inspired by the seaside displays of affection and love by the shows couple, Ross Poldark and Demelza, played by Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson.
The second series of the global hit Poldark will be out later this year after their lengthy filming schedule down here in the Duchy last autumn and early winter in which the production staff stayed with us at The Valley.
Leading travel site stayincornwall.co.uk say online searches for romantic breaks are up 155% in Cornwall making this the perfect time for a romantic holiday in Cornwall with your loved one and to take in the exquisite natural beauty that the county has become known for.
Matt Fletcher spokesperson for stayincornwall.co.uk said: “We believe that the increase in searches for romantic breaks is driven by the ‘Poldark Factor’. Devon and Cornwall are well known to be stunningly romantic. However, the beautifully shot Poldark series has put it firmly on the map as the hottest place if you’re looking for a holiday with romance this year.”
