Fancy a last minute Cornwall cottage holiday? With the weather getting warmer and everywhere in Cornwall looking beautiful, May half term is the perfect time to visit.

If you need a reason to take a holiday here are our 5 recommended events:

 Fal River Festival, 22nd – 31st May

This 10 day festival celebrates life on and around the Fal River. With events for all the family this is a definite ‘to see’ event in Cornwall.

  • Eden Project – Strange Science, 22nd – 31st May

The well-known Eden project not only has an array of wonderful plants and flowers it also has activities for the children. Here are just a few of the fun things you can get involved in at Strange Science…

Guts and Gasses, The Gas Bag Stomach: Journey through the inflatable innards and learn how your body produces gases.

Mad-Lab Kitchen Science: Get hands-on and make your own lava lamps or slime to take home.

Body Bugs: Check out some amazing microscopic images and sculptures of bacteria and viruses, and design your own!

  • National Maritime Museum Falmouth – ‘Shine On’, 23rd – 31st May from 12.00pm – 3.30pm

With a different ‘make and take’ activity every day you’ll be dazzled this May half-term.

Build your own St Anthony’s lighthouse model, make a lighthouse keeper’s lunch basket and create and fire a rescue rocket.

  •  Viking Voyagers – available daily at the Maritime Musuem

The Vikings have landed at National Maritime Museum Cornwall with the opening of the highly anticipated Viking Voyagers exhibition. Exploring the story of why the Vikings are one of the most iconic cultures of all time, the two year exhibition reveals the secret to the Vikings’ success. Inviting visitors to take a journey into the Viking world and explore the truth behind the popular myth of the bloodthirsty raiders it offers the opportunity to get up close to rare antiquities on loan from the British Museum, National Museum of Ireland, National Museum of Denmark and Manx National Heritage.

  •  Cornish Beer Festival & Family Fun Weekend – 23rd and 24th May at Trevone, Padstow

On the Real Ale Bar there are over 36 Cornish ales from across the county and on the Garden Bar there is a selection of lager, ciders, spirits, wines and soft drinks available.
A range of BBQ food, Hog Roast (Sunday only) will be available from the BBQ area. The pub will also be serving food both days.

For your entertainment FLEET Fest brings you a host of musical genres from a Cornish Male Voice Choir to acoustic, folk to rock and dance to disco.

Children have their own ‘Kids Tent’ where you will find Helen to keep them entertained with crafts, games and much more. Bouncy castles, face painting, Laser Quest and Karting will be situated in the gardens.
