Top 5 cloudy activities

August 10th, 2015

Although the rumour is at large, unfortunately it isn’t true, the sun doesn’t ALWAYS shine in Cornwall, however, it is true that there is a still a lot to do within a short distance of The Valley even if it is cloudy!

Here are 5 of what we think are the best options!

Watersports

If you are going to be getting wet, why not immerse yourself in the Cornish sea and do something you’d get wet for anyway! Cornwall is renowned for its surfing so when those clouds are heading over we recommend taking a 40 minute trip to Mawgan Porth in Newquay and learning the ways of the waves with King Surf School.

Eden Project

The Eden project is one of the best family days out when it is raining. After all, what could be better than seeing amazing features of the world in a warm biome whilst watching the rain outside? With several weird and wonderful activities for the kids and the new dinosaur exhibition you really can’t go wrong with the Eden Project, and its only 45 minutes away from our Luxury Cottages!

Maritime Museum, Falmouth

Its not just a Museum about boats. Explore the tales of the people who manned these vessels and the wondrous adventures they had in them.  Ascend the 100ft look out tower and see Falmouth’s famous harbour from the skies, then descend into the Tidal Zone to one of only three underwater galleries in the world. Climb aboard a Sea King helicopter, meet the crew and discover what it takes to bring people home safely. Best of all, this is only 15 minutes away from The Valley, Cornwall.

St Michaels Mount, Penzance

One of the most beautiful spots in the UK is only 30 minutes away from The Valley, the sight of St Michael’s Mount emerging from the mists of Mounts Bay is stunning to witness. The small island, completely cut off from the mainland at high tide, is home to a magnificent medieval church and castle as well as a small residential community. Cross the cobbled causeway to start your adventure, catch the boat if the path has disappeared under the waves, or simply sit and soak up the fantastic view over a cream tea in nearby Marazion village.

Stay In!

One of the best things about our luxury cottages and facilities is you don’t need to go out! With our homely cottage features, swimming pools, and great facilities you could easily have a fun filled day. Furthermore we have several activities for the kids, whether it be bushcraft, archery or an interactive session with exotic animals, The Valley has it all, making it the perfect place for a last minute summer holiday in Cornwall.
