The Love Falmouth photography campaign chooses September’s winners

October 06th, 2016

Last month we blogged about the ongoing #LoveFalmouth photo campaign, which encourages locals and visitors to Falmouth to take photos and show Falmouth as a great place to live, visit and experience in a new way.

Organised by Falmouth BID, the competition began in May, the campaign has had a different theme every month, with September being #LoveCreative. People can get involved through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #LoveFalmouth.

September was the penultimate month of the competition, with October being the last chance to get a winning photo which will be displayed at an exhibition in Falmouth.

The winner for September was Simon Martindale, with an image of Falmouth’s waterfront. Talking about the winning image, he said: “My partner Hannah and I often visit Falmouth. I work as an Apple Master at Truro PCworld and enjoy taking photos on my phone and seeing how they look and also what can be done using editing apps.

“I originally took a panoramic photo from Custom House Quay, it was sunny but with the sea, sky, boats the trim on the hut and even the metal railing were all different blues. Then I edited it into its own little world using an app. I do get some great feedback from my photos on social media and from family and friends. I enjoy taking them and like that others enjoy them.”

The other shortlisted winners for September were named as Thomas Daguerre with a photo of a blue rayed Limpet at Swanpool Beach; Amy Welsh’s boat ride; Claire Ogden’s slow shutter shot of plants, and Jessica Lightwood’s picture of an ice cream at Gyllyngvase Beach.

To get involved with October’s #LoveAutumn entries while on your luxury cottage holidays at Falmouth, images need to be uploaded onto the Falmouth Facebook page, or on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag and tagging the Love Falmouth account.
