The National Maritime Museum Cornwall recognised with awards
September 25th, 2015
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall has continued to cement its place as one of the best museums in the South West after picking up two more prestigious awards.
The Education Team working out of the museum has won the Sandford Award for Excellence in Heritage Education for a second time!
The awards run by the Heritage Education Trust are only awarded to heritage sites, archives, collections and museums of the highest standard across Britain. Judges of the awards are taken from professional educationalists, which includes former head teachers, heritage property education officers and Ofsted inspectors.
The judge’s report of the museum could only be described as glowing, with one quote saying “there can be few places where magic is bettered managed.”
The museum also received a Platinum Provider certificate from Cornwall Education and Business Partnership, as praise for their supporting in the “Make it Work” project. The project works together with the charity United Response, which helps people with disabilities and learning difficulties gain work opportunities.
These awards are just a few of the many great reasons to visit the museum, and we urge anyone staying in our 5 star luxury cottages to visit the museum, to learn what is so special about it for themselves!
