WINNERS OF SOUTH WEST TOURISM AWARDS ANNOUNCED
11 February 2013
The winners of the South West Tourism Awards were recently announced, with Cornwall once again proving it's excellence by scooping a number of top awards.
The award ceremony featured 61 categories in total, covering everything from local attractions to regional restaurants and cottages in Cornwall. The event was held at the Eden Project again this year, hosted by the well known BBC Radio Journalist Daphne Skinnard.
Cornwall's list of top winners included the Falmouth Oyster Festival, which was recognised as joint best Tourism Event of the Year, and Nathan Outlaw's Seafood and Grill Restaurant in Rock, which received gold in the Taste of the South West category.
Alistair Handyside, the chair of judges, commented on the awards, saying that the awards represented the strength of the region and highlighted the continuing innovation and quality that the South West has to offer.
The winners of the event will go on to represent the region in the Visit England national tourism awards.
